Delroy started his first record label at the tender age of 17 years old, after previously making versions of songs for his Dad’s sound system.

In the 80s he co-founded the successful UK Chart Top-Ten hit-making group Total Contrast with songs such as; Takes a Little Time, Hit and Run and What you Gonna Do About It and The River.

He has also written and produced songs for the group Tongue ‘n’ Cheek (EMI) and hit the charts again with Nobody, Encore, Tomorrow and version of Forget Me Nots.

In the 1990’s he hosted and musically directed the popular long running talent show ‘The 291 Club’ at the Hackney Empire, which was broadcast on ITV and Channel 4. Other TV credits include The Real McCoy (BBC1), Baby Father (BBC2), Get Up Stand Up for Channel 4 and various educational programmes for the BBC.

Delroy has also worked in radio, writing songs and soundscapes for Radio 4.

His theatre credits include two co-written pantomimes for Theatre Royal Stratford East; Jack and the Beanstalk and Sleeping Beauty. He also wrote the music for a number of productions for the Talawa Theatre Company; Anansi Trades Places, Moon On a Rainbow Shawl, Blues for Mr Charlie, Urban Afro Saxons and Twelfth Night. His most recent being Fences with Lenny Henry at the Duchess Theatre in the West End.

Delroy also plays with various live bands covering different genres from Bhangra, Ska, Reggae, R&B and Soul and anything in between with his son Brandon playing guitar alongside him.

Delroy devotes much of his time mentoring and teaching music in schools and workshops, working with young people, musicians and singers. Now his new role as Radio DJ Street Sounds Radio takes him back to his roots of selecting records playing records for his Dad’s Sound System Metro Down Beat, I guess he has gone full circle!
